Who you are and what you believe can make it challenging to find the right foods. We eat to be healthy. We eat to be happy. Fresh City’s approach to balancing both of those objectives is "Live Life to the Freshest!" It’s our commitment to you, our guests…
Bold and original creations, you can feel good about:
We have a lot of fun blending recipes from around the world to come up with our unique Fresh Fusion Cuisine. But we also care about healthy eating. The U.S. Deptartment of Health and Human Services (HSS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommend that you eat a variety of foods to get the energy, protein, vitamins, minerals and fiber that you need for good health. They tell us that we should balance the food we eat with physical activity to maintain or improve our weight. While Fresh City can't help you find the time or the inclination for athletics, we can offer you the meals and snacks you need to keep going strong throughout your day or after a full day’s work or a hard workout. At Fresh City, you’ll find variety, fresh foods full of nutrients and compelling flavors that will keep you coming back.
If you choose to eat meat, Fresh City is the place to do it. We serve naturally-raised meat, poultry and seafood free from preservatives, antibiotics, growth hormones and animal by-products.
While the USDA is still developing certification standards for “naturally-raised,” it does distinguish between “natural” and “naturally-raised” — they don’t mean the same thing. According to USDA guidelines, “natural” beef, poultry, pork, fish, etc. means, “During processing, nothing synthetic is ever added to the meat, including preservatives, and the product is only minimally processed.” The “natural” guidelines do not prohibit use of antibiotics, growth hormones or animal byproducts during the raising or any other preprocessing stages of production. The “naturally-raised” guidelines prohibit antibiotics, added growth hormones or animal byproducts. If the animal requires antibiotics to overcome illness, it is supposed to be separated from the “naturally-raised” herd, flock or school. Animals that nurse, if “naturally-raised,” are allowed to do so, naturally gaining antibodies from their mothers. It takes longer for “naturally-raised” animals to reach the required weight for slaughter, so “naturally-raised” also means higher cost. But we think you’re worth it!
As many as 10 percent of American adults consider themselves vegetarians, even though they may eat fish or poultry occasionally. The vegetarian lifestyle is on the rise, particularly among young adults. Is it true vegetarians have more fun? At Fresh City, it’s fun to find out… Our vegetarian choices are so tasty that many non-vegetarians choose our meatless selections including Stir Fry, Salads, Burritos, Sandwiches and Soups.
Our produce is hand-picked, to ensure that we serve you the very best vegetables and fruits we can find — locally-grown, whenever possible. Locally grown produce is better because it doesn’t have to travel so far — that means it needn’t be removed from the plant prematurely, before it’s ripe, in order to survive shipping. If produce is picked prior to peak ripeness, it doesn’t have time to complete its natural cycle, so many of the nutrients, vitamins and minerals don’t have time to fully develop. Produce harvested when ripe must be served as soon as possible — it’s simply got to be fresh!
So far, no one can back up the claim that organic foods taste better, but advocates tell us that organic agriculture is better for both the food it produces and the ecosystem at large. Studies suggest that organically-farmed produce contains up to 40 percent more antioxidants such as vitamin C and higher levels of minerals than its conventionally-farmed counterparts. By eliminating unnatural herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers, organic farming practices not only reduce our exposure to these chemical additives through our foods but also keep them from polluting lakes, ponds, rivers and groundwater.
